Are You Davy Crockett or Bob Izumi?

MLM Marketing

There is a huge difference between hunting and fishing.  Just ask Davy Crockett or Bob Izumi.  Both men were made famous by their skills in the outdoors.

Davy for his knack at bringing down the largest, smartest or quickest animals and Bob for sharing his angling adventures with others on his Real Fishing Show.

But, what does this have to do with your business?  Let me show you how one of these men is the perfect model when it comes to looking for MLM prospects.

Hunting involves stalking your prey and sneaking up on it as quietly as you can.  You hope it stays still enough for you to take it down knowing full well that if it knew you were there it would run as fast and as far as it could to get away from you.

If you miss it, who knows when you’ll find the next.  The only way it ends is if something is dead, exhausted or both.

Fishing is the exact opposite.

You have something the fish wants so it comes to you. It chooses to take the bait because whatever is on the end of your line is so enticing that it can’t help itself.  It is drawn to you and what you have to offer.

And it’s not just one fish – it is a whole lake, stream, river or ocean that could be interested in your bait.  You can cast your line out and see what amazing thing you reel in.

If you are still hunting for prospects in your home business you are missing the boat-
the fishing boat to be exact!

Smart marketers know that the hunt is over.  It’s hard work -tracking, chasing, stalking and makes everyone uncomfortable, leaving the hunter disappointed most of the time.

Fishing leaves it up to the fish to decide what is right for the fish.  They either take the bait or leave it for the next one.  No pressure.  If they aren’t impressed enough with what is offered they will find what is right for them.

But if you’re fishing with the right bait it’s hard for the fish to say no.

The fisherman isn’t disappointed because although one fish didn’t bite, he had 10 more that did.  He can sit where he is comfortable, cast his line and wait for the right fish to come to him.

Think about this the next time you are looking for leads and prospects.

Leave the hunting behind, start fishing.

Get the right bait (free, useful information to give away), a good place to sit (your Nerve Center) and cast your line (your marketing efforts- articles, videos, forum posts, ppc ads, etc.).  Before you know it you’ll have a boat full of fish (not that I have to explain this one but- tons of leads flowing into your sales funnel with new distributors and sales coming out the other side).

Maybe when I am working I’ll put up a “Gone Fishing” sign on my office door!
